Meet Christy Halsted

“It became a personal goal for me to graduate with a bachelor's degree. I promised myself I would do it, but I had no spare time at all when I signed up for the program. I mean, none!”

Meet Christy Halstead

With two small children and a family, I had no idea how I would do it. That is, until I discovered the unbelievable support of DCP faculty (who kept saying, ‘you can do this!’), encouragement from fellow students in my cohort and the importance of my own dedication.

It wasn't easy. I got promoted during the time I was in DCP, so I did a lot of the work later in the evening while the kids were in bed (I didn't want to sacrifice any time with them.) What I would say to others considering going back to school is this: “It's going to require a lot of your time and energy, but you can do it. You will be so happy you did!”

I also have Albright to thank for helping me find my ultimate career goal — teaching high school social studies. With all of the time we spent in the DCP program presenting material (which really helps you learn) I realized that I loved being in front of the classroom. Now, I'm headed to graduate school!
